The State Historical and Cultural Park Ancient Merv is the oldest and best preserved of the oasis cities along the Silk Road in Central Asia. Several cities have existed on this site, with a history span of 4,000 years.
The ruin of Konye-Urgench is located in the north-western Turkmensistan, on the left bank of Amu-Daria River. There are many monuments mainly from the 11th to 16th centuries, including mosque, gates of a caravanserai, fortresses, mausoleums and a 60-m high minaret.
The Parthian Fortresses of Nisa is located near the modern Bagir village, 18 km southwest of Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. It is an ancient site consists of two tells, Old Nisa and New Nisa, indicating from the mid 3rd century BC to the 3rd century AD.
