Shehuo, A Traditional Chinese Folk Performance in Gansu Province
Villagers in Weiyuan county, Dingxi city, Gansu province perform in Shehuo, a collection of traditional folk shows, on Feb 15 to observe Spring Festival and pray for bumper crops in the New Year. Shehuo is a form of folk art that derives from the Han ethnic group and refers to various acrobatic performances put on by people during festivals and sacrificial rites. The performances include the dragon dance, walking on stilts, land boats, yangko (a rural folk dance) and waist drums.
