Fuzhou to Hold First Maritime Silk Road Tourism Festival
The curtain is scheduled to rise on the first Maritime Silk Road Tourism Festival in Fuzhou, Fujian province on Nov 15.
The festival's goal is to combine the tourism resources of cities along the Maritime Silk Road, plan a string of tourism routes, and promote tourism development, according to Chen Ye, vice mayor of Fuzhou city.
The event will attract tourism delegations from home and abroad, including Macao, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, India, South Korea, Thailand, Myanmar, the Philippines, Italy, Russia, Germany and Canada.
The festival will feature the integration of tourism and sports and culture through activities such as badminton, cycling, basketball contests, and a marathon race.
In addition, a bathrobe show, food festival and folk music concert will be held. Visitors can also win free tickets to Fuzhou's tourist attractions by signing onto the Weibo and WeChat accounts of the Fuzhou tourism bureau.
Fuzhou is a key city along the Maritime Silk Road and the festival will offer a good chance to enhance its communication with regions along the Silk Road.
