Xinjiang Holds International Summit to Develop Uygur Medicine
The Third International Summit on Uygur Medicine and Protection of Intangible Culture kicked off in the city of Urumqi in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region on Oct 22, according to Xinhua Online.
Fifty medical experts from famous Chinese colleges such as Tsinghua University and Fudan University, and foreign countries including France, Japan and Turkey took part in the summit, along with around 700 Uygur doctors and medical staff from Xinjiang.
In a speech to attendees of the summit, Liu Hua, the region’s deputy sectary-general said that the summit created an international platform for Xinjiang’s medical courses and helped improve its academic quality.
An unveiling ceremony for a training center for Uygur medical talents was held during the summit.
