Get Intimate Look at Chinese Ancient Lamps in Xi'an Shaanxi
The city of Xi’an in Shaanxi province opened a lamp exhibition at the Bell Tower in the city center on Aug 12, according to xinhuanet.com.
The exhibition featured more than 100 ancient lamps spanning from the Warring States Period (475 – 221 BC) to the Republic of China (1912 – 1949). The lamps on display sport various shapes and are made from a variety of materials, such as stone, iron, pottery, bamboo and glass. The items at the exhibition were dedicated by Xue Yong, head of Xi’an Collecting Research Institute. Xue began his collection of lamps in 1992 and has collected approximately 700 lamps since then. The exhibition will run until Sept 20.
