The 39th International Museum Day was celebrated with various activities in Karamay, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, on May 18. The city museum of Karamay organized several events to mark the special day.

It held exhibitions with such themes as "history of Xinjiang", "evolution of Xinjiang religions", "Xinjiang ancient costumes" and "history of Karamay oilfields and development of Karamay city". All the exhibitions will remain open till October.

Mobile outdoor exhibitions were also organized in communities, schools, military camps, the countryside and oilfields, attracting many local residents.

The Karamay Museum also called on all local institutions and the people of Karamay to protect historical relics in the city and donate their collections that document the city's development course
