A Pakistani delegation visited the No 1 Middle School in Karamay, an oil-rich city in the northern part of the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, on April 27, to explore school-management models and hold consultations with teachers and students.

Li Xiaomei, the director of the Party working office of the school, showed the guests around the campus. They attended a costume play show and watched a band rehearsal. Li explained how students in Karamay choose their optional courses as well as extracurricular activities in line with their own interests and learning abilities.

"Students here have more options to choose curriculum than students back in Pakistan. This pattern is worth exploring since it gives students more room to make independent choices," a Pakistani delegate said after the visit.

Pakistani delegation praised the conditions and running model of the Karamay No 1 Middle School. They expressed hope to enhance communication between students in Karamay and Pakistan via more frequent visits as well as exchange programs.
