Toutunhe to build Xinjiang's First Carpet Industry Demonstration Park
In response to high demand, Xinjiang Parlak Import and Export Trading Company, a local carpet enterprise in Urumqi's Toutunhe district, is expected to upgrade its technologies and build Xinjiang's first carpet industry demonstration park.
The head of the enterprise said that the demonstration park will house a carpet trading center, handmade carpet R&D center and a hand woven carpet production line to boost the marketing competitiveness of local carpet products.
As a carpet enterprise dealing with research and development, and production and sales, Parlak has grasped the opportunities brought by the Belt and Road Initiative - China's proposals for boosting trade with Asian countries to expand the market.
The company has upgraded its technologies to improve its products quality and marketing competitiveness, resulting in soaring purchasing orders in the first quarter of this year and 25 percent more than the same period last year. To date, purchasing orders have been placed till July and are still increasing.

Engineer Hu Xinquan said that the enterprise had invested 2 million yuan ($320,000) to improve its technologies. Such technology upgrades will help the company increase the production efficiency of pure wool spinning of handmade carpets by 28 percent and its output from 7000 square meters per month to 10,000 thousand square meters per month.
According to the head of the Parlak, the company will invest one tenth of its annual sales revenue to upgrade its technologies; it is also looking to put one million yuan towards tackling the problem of wool shedding in handmade carpets to attract more customers.
