On February 2, 2015, the first trip sea-rail transport from Xi'an to Huangdao Port by Xi'an Railway Bureau was officially opened. More than a month since its opening, there were 7530 tons of goods transported by four lines. Its opening broke through the railway channel from Shaanxi to Europe and the US, marking that a new international railway pattern starting from Shaanxi to Central Asia in West, to the US by jointly linking shipment has been initially formed so as to take pragmatic actions to promote the construction of the Silk Road economic belt and marine Silk Road.

The sea-rail transportation from Xi’an to Huangdao Port has been into normalized operation with twice a week. The transported goods focus on juice and automobile accessories. Goods take train firstly starts from Xi’an Xinzhu Station to Huangdao Port via Lanzhou-Lianyungang railway and Jiaozhou-Xinyi railway and then transit by shipment to the US and Australia. The railway distance reached 1,326 km with operational time of 46 hour, reducing over 70 hours than the traditional railway transportation.

At present, China is the world's largest producer and exporter of fruit and vegetable juices. The apple production of Shaanxi, the first province in fruit production, has accounted for a fourth of China and a sixth of the world respectively. Meanwhile, the fruit deep processing export cluster has got rapid development in Shaanxi. Now, Shaanxi has become the largest processing and export base of apple juice concentrate, with its output accounting for more than a half of national total and over a third of the global total. Shaanxi is a real apple juice concentrate processing center in the world.

Shaanxi Hengtong Juice Group Co., Ltd. is a leading enterprise in the agricultural industrialization in China. Its core product is concentrated apple juice with 98% of output for export, including the US, Europe, Australia and other countries and regions. Before the Xi’an-Huangdao Port train opening, it always transport goods by road, railway and ship with longer time and higher costs. But the sea-train joint transportation enables the cost reduction by 3-5% and time reduction by over 70 hours. Evenmore,the whole transportation process just needs one declaration, one inspection and one clearance.

In order to implement the national development strategy of the Silk Road economic belt and marine Silk Road and build a large international logistics channel pattern, since November 28, 2013, Xi'an Railway Bureau has opened the freight line from Xi’an to Almaty to get through the transportation to Central Asia. More than a year later, this freight line has become an important channel of the construction of Silk Road economic belt. Moreover, on February 2, 2015, Xi’an Railway Bureau opened the sea-train joint transportation via Huangdao Port and realized the railway line to the US and Europe for Shaanxi.
