Xinjiang Huocheng Villagers Use New Equipment to Receive TV Programs
The administration of culture, radio, film and television in the county of Huocheng, in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region has given out 410 sets of free "Hu Hu Tong"– direct broadcast satellite radio and television equipment - to the farmers and herdsmen.
Villagers in Sangong village were able to receive a new "Hu Hu Tong" by handing over their old ones. The technicians of the administration also helped the villagers install their new "Hu Hu Tong ".
Sangong village has so-far already handed out around 3,000 "Hu Hu Tong" to families. However, since then, some of the equipment has been broken due to the bad weather or human factors. To prevent further breakages, technicians gave more detailed explanation of the "Hu Hu Tong " to the users and taught them how to maintain them.
The "Hu Hu Tong" project is one of many people-benefitting cultural projects pioneered by the State Administration of Culture, Radio, Film and Television, to enable cable TV network to reach rural areas.
