More than 30 citizens jumped aboard for a ride down Urumqi’s Metro Line 1 on Mar 6. The northern section of Urumqi's Metro Line 1, the first Xinjiang-made metro line, will start its trial run in June. It will take less than half an hour to go from Balou Station to the International Airport Station.

Metro Line 4  Construction Underway in Urumqi
The construction of Urumqi's Metro Line 4 has entered a new phase, with excavation of pits and tunnels underway at multiple sites, local media reported.

The project began in 2017 to build 16 stations along a 20.58-kilometer route that starts at Bainiao Lake and ends at Badaowan Vehicle Base.

Four of the line's 16 stations are expected to wrap up construction this year, with an investment of about 3 billion yuan ($190 million). The whole project targets completion and trial runs in 2021.
