Foreign Experts Receive Dunhuang Award in Gansu Province
A Dunhuang Award ceremony was held in Lanzhou, Gansu province, on October 11. Three foreign experts from the University of South Florida were honored at the ceremony, adding to the total of seven foreign experts who won the award this year.
Li Bin, deputy governor of Gansu province, presented the award to the three winners and thanked them for their efforts in promoting medical development in Gansu.
Professor John Sinnott has long been promoting medical cooperation between China and the United States, visiting Gansu nine times to help develop medical projects and cultivate medical professionals. He is a good friend of Gansu’s people and a messenger of friendship between China and the US.
Professor Sinnott said that he will continue to promote communication between China and the US in medical, civic, cultural, and personnel training, and enhance understanding and friendship between the two countries.
The Dunhuang Award was set up by the Gansu provincial government to honor foreign experts who have made great contributions to economic and social development in Gansu. By the end of this year, 170 foreign experts from 28 countries will have received the award, 30 of whom also won the Chinese Government Friendship Award.
